Descripton:

The Cove Campground is a privately owned, certified tree farm.The Cove covers about 3000 acres located among the Appalachian Mountains.  There are 3 large lakes in the area, as well as several ponds. The Cove provides family camping and public access removed from commercialization; it has many amenities such as hiking, swimming, fishing, boating, cabins, hot showers, target range, and winter snow tubing. There are 30 miles of ATV and motorcycle trails that run throughout the Cove. The campsites are large and most are wooded, several campsites are lakeside and certain campsites are available with electric hookups. It is the desire of the present owners to share the charm, solitude, and beauty of The Cove with those who love the outdoors.

      Shenandoah Valley Steam & Gas Engine Show          July 23 - 25
      This show features some of the finest restored farm tractors, restored farm equipment, a working steam-powered belt-driven saw mill, demonstrations of a vintage belt-driven threshing machine and hay bailer, a "parade of tractors", and a tractor pull featuring ONLY vintage stock farm tractors.In addition to a step back into the past, on Saturday listen to some outstanding bluegrass music. Held at the Ruritan-Clark County Show Grounds, located on Route 7.

July 24-26–Berryville.

43rd Annual Pageant of Steam and Gas Show at the Ruritan-Clark County Show Grounds, Business Route 7. Parade, tractor pull, food, music. Also a flea market with something for everyone from hard-to-find parts for old engines to ball caps. Admission fee and no pets allowed. 540-664-7406.

July 26-August 1–Winchester.

Frederick County Fair (located on Route 11 north of Winchester, near Clearbrook) featuring exhibits, live music, food, demonstrations, entertainment and a lot more. Admission fee. 540-667-8739.

July 31-August 7–Front Royal.

Warren County Fair at the Fair Grounds, 26 Fairgrounds Road. The Pageants are held on the 31st, they include fairest of the fair, tiny, little miss, and preteen. Live entertainment, animals shows, exhibits, tractor pull, master of the chainsaw, circus, and more on August 1st-7th. Demolition derby on the 2nd, and the 5th. ATV dirt drag racing on the 6th. August 8-14–Berryville.

Clarke County Fair at the Ruritan Fairgrounds (860 West Main Street). Old fashioned country fair with lots of modern activities. A demolition derby on the 8th and 14th. Bull riding and a rodeo on the 13th. Also carnival rides, animal shows, animal beauty contests, music and other entertainment. There will be a variety of sales, pig/rabbit scrambles, fresh produce displays, competitions, and chicken/beef bar-b-que dinners. Admission fee. 540-955-2530.

BIG DOGS OFFROAD    Aug. 12-15- Gore.

August 12-14–Winchester.

August 14–Shenandoah County.

6th Annual Yard Crawl, all along the infamous Route 11. The event will feature our historic towns New Market, Mt. Jackson, Edinburg, Woodstock, Strasburg, Middle-town, Stephens City and include businesses, sidewalk sales, yard sales, antiques, food, and much more along the designated scenic byway. National Competition: North-South Skirmish Association          Sept.29 - Oct. 3
      Member units compete in live-fire matches with original or authentic reproduction Civil War period muskets, carbines, breech loading rifles, revolvers, mortars and cannons. 146th Civil War Battle Re-enactment          Oct. 15-17          
Visit the battlefield to witness thousands of re-enactors as they recreate the last great Civil War battle of the Shenandoah Valley.
